Often referred to as DI, disability income insurance or income protection it is a form of insurance designed to replace a percentage of the insured’s earned income should an accident or sickness prevents them from performing their job. Some companies will provide group disability coverage as a part of the benefits package for their full-time employee. Group disability benefits can be provided as short-term disability benefits (STD) and/or long term disability benefits (LTD).
